Dear sons
Thank you for always, always putting the toilet seat and lid down.
Love,
Mom
(Dear future daughter-in-law,
You’re welcome.)

(Dear future daughter-in-law,
You’re welcome.)
She’s just recently 3 and is my friend’s daughter. And she’s completely adorable.
Today after church she asked me for a cup of lemonade. I had heard her mama tell her that she could only have water so I told her I’d be happy to get her some water.
She asked, “With ice?”
After just one sip the sweet girl dropped the entire thing on the church kitchen floor.
She took many steps backwards exclaiming that she spilled. And I took the opportunity to make her laugh by stomping in the puddle she’d created between us.
But she didn’t laugh. She mothered me.
I wish I could write exactly how she said, “What are you doing!?!?!?”
She was unsure of what to do so she kept taking steps backwards, mouth wide open the whole time. But it only took a few moments.
She finally closed her mouth, took about 8 steps forward and said, “I’m gonna splash, too”.
And that, folks, is how you make friends with a 3 year old.
I was able to get The League Of Grateful Sons for free for my husband and sons. I had been trying to get my hands on it for many months and was pleased to find it available at The Vision Forum at no cost at all, besides the $3 shipping.
To my surprise, it arrived in just a few days!
My husband and my older sons sat down and watched this documentary style video about the godly legacy of the fathers of World War II. My husband said it was an excellent video.
This is no heartwarming romance or suspenseful tale of superheros in capes. This true story is real in every sense, heart wrenching and glorious, bloody and victorious.
Shot on location in Iwo Jima, Guam, Hawaii, and in Texas, The League of Grateful Sons brings the past to the forefront for a couple of WWII veterans. Returning to Iwo Jima, they retell the stories of the life altering battles of their youth. In passing on their stories to a new generation of young men, they are leaving a legacy of uncommon weight.

We took the kids to the park to play ultimate frisbee. Ryan and his friend, along with our 4 oldest chased the disc around while I enjoyed some time wandering with the three youngest.
In our wandering we meandered over to the bathrooms.
And found this treasure!

“No. We can’t keep it.”

We’ll fly.
Just like daddy.
Samma and the “Cammwa” have a great connection. And somehow my camera always manages to find Sam’s face.
Yesterday I took my little bro out to do a quick 5-minute photo session with him. I do his sessions in 5 minute frames so he can regenerate his cuteness after he starts to forget where he is and leaves for daydreaming world.
“Kaity? That your cammwa?”, he asked as soon as I started getting the case out.
“Yeah, ya wanna go pose for me?”
He then proceded to do his little excitiment dance.
I decided just to take him out to the backyard. We’ve got some great backgrounds out there.
Once we get outside, I poined toward the side of the house where a large oak tree stands and said “Come on Sam, let’s go do pictures over here.”
“No, we do dem over dewr.” He said pointing to the brick wall on the opposite side of the house, and started walking over there; leaving me dumbfounded.
“Okay, over there.”
Apparently the kids got good taste, because he was right; the light was great over there and the pictures turned out good. Who would’ve known the Samma and the “Cammwa” got along so great?

Clementine.
When we moved into this house 3 months ago we had no idea we even had a fruit tree in the back. One of the kids spotted a few “limes” on it a couple weeks after.
They looked ready to eat so we tried one and discovered it was no lime. It was an under-ripe orange. Further research showed us that God was growing Clementines in our backyard.
Clementines.
I heart Clementines and even had my sister ship some across the country to me once when I couldn’t find them in any local grocery stores.
Good fruit.
Real good fruit.
Almost one of the guys.

Almost.

Discovering a comfortable friend.
Priceless.
