get the weeds out

I need to weed my garden.

We added the little garden just after we moved in here in August.  I’ve been saying I need to weed it since then.
And I’ll say it again.

I need to weed my garden.

It would be so nice if I could just plant my sweet, colorful little flowers and then just watch them grow.  It would be easy if they grew just the way I expected them to without any of the dirty work that goes into having a beautiful garden.

However, It doesn’t quite work that way.

It reminds me of raising kids.  Yeah, it would be easy if we could just pop ’em out, give ‘em a little water, and watch ‘em grow into extraordinary people. No more mistakes, no more ‘weeding the garden’.  But what would be the fun in that?

And, besides, isn’t the real joy in growing them?

I’m think I’m gonna go out and weed my garden.

A Great Nature Valley Granola Giveaway

granolapackWe’ll be posting another giveaway this week so make sure to check back!

This giveaway is brought to you by My Blog Spark who kindly sent me a Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters package complete with an aluminum bottle, a sling backpack, flashlight and binoculars!

My children patiently sat around me waiting as I opened each package of Granola Nut Clusters.  We tried all of them and found them to be completely delicious.  Each one of us had our own favorite flavor, but we agreed that they were all quite good.

Then the boys promptly ran off with the hand charged flashlight and the binoculars.

And I filled the sling backpack and hid the water bottle.

Then my friend came to visit and ate the rest of the Nut Clusters.  Okay, we all ate them, but she ate them in the middle of the night.

And guess what!  They are offering another package to one of my readers!  Yay for you – if you win.

Just a recap – the winning package includes the following:

  • 4 coupons for Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters
  • Sling Backpack
  • A pair of binoculars (or scopes as my littles call them)
  • A hand charged flashlight
  • A stainless steel water bottle

It is so easy to enter and there are 4 ways to win! You’re only required to enter using one method below to win, however, if you use all four methods you’ll have a better chance!

Nook

I really like the way books look all lined up on a shelf.  I would love to have a wall, or room actually, completely dedicated to shelves and shelves of books.  I suspect that someday I’ll have that room.

the libwawy

With plush chairs and cozy reading corners.

But the Nook has caught my special attention.  Barnes and Noble has a new e-reader coming out and I actually want it.  And with our downsizing and getting rid of excess junk it’s perfect because books are heavy and take up lots of room.

But what will come of my dream of a library?  Will it cease to exist?  Will my physical books become a relic of the past?

Will the idea of my grandchildren sitting on the floor of our library paging through book after book look more like little kids staring at electronic screens?  That thought troubles me.
And if I do keep my library will I be a laughing stock 30 years from now?

Yeah, yeah,  I’m sure people will be laughing at me.

But it probably won’t be because of my library.
