guess where i am now…

I’m laying here beside my baby daughter.

A girl.
Wrapped in pink.

I haven’t had a baby daughter in 16 years!

This is so surreal.
Last night I kept thinking I was going to wake up in the morning and find it was a dream, that I was still pregnant.

It just feels so crazy to be saying her, she, pink…

[pinch me]

Okay, Kait, don’t actually go pinching me now.

And We Have A….

GIRL!!!!!

Helen Lucille Aileen made an appearance at 6:53 this evening. Since we didn’t find out what she was before birth and covered her up right as she came out, the whole family got to gather around and find out what the gender of the baby was together. It was so special!  I couldn’t believe I finally had a little sister! It was an amazing experience!

Dad was so happy to get a little girl!

And, of course, Mom stared at her for like an hour.

Ok not really. But it was such an amazing thing to behold – it was an incredible experience!

Well, there’s just a quick post – more is sure to come!

Baby update number 653

They sent me home, but not because I wasn’t progressing. I’m 6 cm and my contractions are now mostly 4 to 5 minutes apart. However, between my midwife and myself we decided that it would be safe for me to return home, that history shows it is unlikely I will actually give birth before 5.

And 5:00 is the magic time where she can leave the birth center.  So yay for that!  Only one more hour.

And I wanted to say to all of you who are pregnant right now – you do not want to get the sneezes while you’re in labor.

It. Is. Not. Comfortable.

We’re expecting to have a baby here by dinner.  Or at least by 8.  Or sometime tonight.  I’m not looking forward to the next couple hours of pain so please pray that once 5 hits and my midwife gets here my labor is done and over with quickly.

And then I can get on with the snuggling.

Another update – 2:15pm

At my midwives for my 40 week appt. They may just keep me here.
I’m trying to be okay with not having a homebirth but I have to admit to being awfully bummed.

Contractions are getting more and more painful and are pretty steadily 5 to 10 minutes apart. They hurt. It’s not fun.

But I’m getting a baby.
[grin]

Updates will continue.

big scaredy mutt

image

This is a crappy picture of a scaredy dog.

Our scaredy dog.

He’s such a whimp.

It would appear that Big Dog is terrified of balloons.  We got a helium tank to blow up balloons for Ryan’s birthday and Big Dog is not happy about that at all.

The beast of an animal hid in the corner of my bedroom just about all evening, and even followed Ryan into the closet a couple of times.

Little Dog, also pictured, did not seem to have an actual fear of the balloons.  But he saw that Big Dog was afraid of something and figured there must be something scary to cower away from.

So cower along with Big Dog he did.  Even whimpered a little.

And today the balloons are out and about in the house and the kids are playing with them.  Big Dog is pacing around in a very annoying manner that’s really bugging me.  He’s still following Ryan around everywhere, too.

What a big hairy baby.

10:15 – still no baby

The contractions stopped for a full hour.
It’s really annoying but what can ya do?

At least I slept for that full hour, it was much needed.  Contractions have started back up again and are much, much more painful.  However, they still aren’t following much a pattern.  This is completely normal for me so I’m feeling okay about it.

I just got a call from my midwife.  I may have to have a birth center birth if this baby doesn’t arrive by around 3 due to staffing issues.  Not exactly what I wanted but it’ll be okay.  Way better than a hospital birth and I’ll still be able be home within a few hours after the baby is born.

God is in control.  Whatever is best will happen – I trust that.

I’ll be updating…

Another update 7:15am

I’m tired.
Contractions are fickle and between 5 and 10 minutes apart. I think if my water would just finish up it’s breaking things would progress a little faster.

Either way, baby is coming sometime today.

The two littlest boys are up. I opted to get up with them for now so Ryan could sleep since I was waking up every 5 minutes or so anyway. And contractions are much less painful when I’m up and about.

I’ll update as things progress. ~;o)

it’s all about the water

It didn’t totally break, but it’s definitely leaking pretty good.

We actually have had to go to the birthing center because all the midwives are currently attending other births. I’ll go home here in about 1/2 hour though as one gal just finished delivery.

And contractions are starting to hurt hurt. But they’re still about 10 minutes apart so we have a few hours.

So, there is your five am update!

It’s Happening(by Kait)

It’s time. Mom is probably writing a blog post from her phone right now. Or maybe she’s not. I really don’t know because she’s on her way to the midwifery.

It’s 4:34 as I write this.

I’m wide awake.

Y’all are probably wondering why she is on her way to the midwifery when the midwife was supposed to come here.

Well apparently everyone else in Jacksonville decided to have their babies tonight, because all the midwives are in the middle of delivering. There’s one delivering at the midwifery. So if little Wicker decides to come faster than than mom’s previous babies, the midwife there can take care of it.

But unless that happens, Mom will just get some antibiotics and then will come home, followed by a finished midwife.

I should have a new sibling by breakfast.

;-)
