Fun da-middles giveaway!!!

Today’s giveaway is a cereal Fund-Da-Middles cupcakes prize pack from Betty Crocker and My Blog Spark and it includes the following awesomeness:

  • One sample of new Betty Crocker Fun da-middles cupcake mix
  • One cupcake pan
  • One oven mitt
  • One package of cupcake liners
  • One box of cupcake gift notes

To enter to see if you could be chosen to receive your very own Betty Crocker Fun da-middles prize pack you must take the following course of action by the end of the day on Oct 10th, 2011. US addresses only. Feel free to enter even if I “know” you. Winners are chosen randomly.

  1. Read this post with interest. Fun da-middles are like Twinkies only not stale and that makes them awesome.
  2. Tell me something good. Or funny. Or anything really. Just make it about cupcakes or cake or parties or anything really. This shouldn’t be too hard because just about everybody likes cupcakes. Do this in the comment section. I really, really want a cupcake right now.
  3. You can leave a second comment if you chose to pass this giveaway on to somebody else. Like through a link on your blog or Twitter or Facebook or something. This will take a little more effort but it will gain you a second entry. You may find this worth it but one time I entered to win a gaming system that had over 600 entries and 8 ways to enter and I only chose one method of entry. I won. It was awesome. I felt like all happy and stuff about it until I remembered that I believe all gaming systems should be burned with fire. But I didn’t have to buy Joe a Christmas present that year. It was bitter sweet.

Have I mentioned before how easily sidetracked I am?

Kait wipped these up as a mid day snack and they smelled so, so good baking. When they were finished the boys devoured them and I had to hide the last couple so I could try them when I was ready. I like to save my treats until after the baby is sleeping because I tend to enjoy sweeties more when I’m not having to concentrate on anything else.

I like these. A lot. They are like Twinkies but not stale and I looked for them to buy more but they didn’t have them at my Commissary. I will definitely keep looking for them each time I shop.

And here a quick word from Betty Crocker and Mom Select:

  • Combining cake mix and filling pouch in one box, Fun da-middles cupcakes have a special creamy filling that bakes inside the cupcake.
  • Available in three delicious flavors, Vanilla Cake with Creamy Chocolate Filling, Chocolate Cake with Creamy Vanilla Filling, and Vanilla Cake with Creamy Vanilla Filling, Fun da-middles cupcakes are a fun and portable treat that children can take everywhere they go!

Remember to go ahead and enter to win the Betty Crocker Fun da-middles giveaway now so you don’t forget!

1 winner will be chosen on or around 10/11/2011.

We will announce it on the blog here. I’ll also email you if you’ve provided your email address. But, I can’t hang onto your winnings forever so make sure you check back!

grocery shopping.

This is about as orderly as food gets in my house.  It’s a pantry and my boys think that pretty much anything goes when it comes to pantries.

This is also what we call running low. Today is grocery shopping day.

For me, grocery shopping pretty much ranks up there with running a marathon, something I don’t ever want to do. However, unlike running a marathon, I HAVE to grocery shop.

If you’re going to be at the Mayport commissary this morning I’ll be the one WITHOUT her oldest teenage daughter who is visiting my sister, and WITH the sweet little baby girl and the 6 boys who are all in your way on the cereal isle. Feel free to wave.

What is it about the cereal isle that makes my children forget their senses anyway?

i actually sewed.

Since moving onto base here I’ve not blogged nearly as much. It’s not that I don’t have much to say, it’s just that our free smartphone-based internet is a bit spotty here and we’ve decided not to pay the $90 a month for cable internet anymore. I’m content with this because I like having the extra money for my grocery budget and I also like the extra time that has seemed to poof out of thin air because I’m not on the computer nearly as much.

It’s a good thing, really, but I do miss regularly updating my blog. I’ve found myself taking more notes on a daily basis because I’m a journaler – whether writing on my blog or not, but I haven’t had much of a chance to sit down and make enough sense of my notes to form a coherent blog post. And I’m okay with this. For now.

Jesse is pictured above for no reason but I think he’s cute. And he’s growing obnoxiously fast.

I made Lucy a skirt this week to match some of her BabyLegs for the fall. It turned out deliciously adorable and didn’t take all that much time, really. Maybe an hour.

I’m not at all good with patterns. Actually, I’m not at all good with much of anything when it comes to sewing. However, the sueded leather baby skirt turned out really cute and so did the repurposed onesie skirt I sewed.

I don’t know what happened.

And then when we were driving up to South Carolina to see my sister and her new baby, Jack, on Saturday I thought to bring some of my beading supplies and use the time to make Lucy her first piece of jewelry, a pacifier clippy. It’s very girly.

And that’s what I’ve been up to. I have some other projects planned for the next week or so too. If I actually follow through I’ll post about it. Probably.

Directions for the brown skirt I made can be found here. And the onesie dress directions can be found here, although I modified the directions to suit my needs. The pacifier clip is my own design. I’ll sell you one for $20 if you’re interested. Made to order. Want?

good morning lucy

Happy girl.

Seven months old now and she’ll be crawling any day. The shirt she’s wearing is a gift from Uncle Matt and Aunt Nina and Cousin Greyson and is super adorable. I have some light weight suede-ish brown fabric that I’m going to fashion into a skirt today because I think it will look so cute with this shirt for fall.

I’m going to need to buy some girly BabyLegs now, I think. And some sweet baby boots.

This is exciting.

recess on monday

Warm rain makes for excellent fun, puddles are meant for jumping in….

…and Math seems silly when the weather outside is so perfect.
Sometimes an unplanned break is called for.

living on the cliffs of insanity

I went to vacuum the little boys’ bedroom and found that one of my kids had sucked up a belt last time they vacuumed.
Like the kind of belt that you use to hold up your pants.
It was in there rolled up around the vacuum brush head thing-y.
The vacuum brush head thingy that has now ceased to function.

And that is all I have to say about that.

it only comes once a year, people.

Talk like a pirate day is on September 19th and if you don’t want to be the only one who doesn’t have your arrr and arrrghs in the right place then you’d better brush up on your pirate terminology.

In order to assist you I’ve pulled this small bit from the International Talk Like A Pirate Day website.

Ahoy!“Hello!”

Avast! - Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, “Whoa! Get a load of that!” which today makes it more of a “Check it out” or “No way!” or “Get off!”

Aye!“Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did.”

Aye aye!“I’ll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over.”

Arrr! – This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. “Arrr!” can mean, variously, “yes,” “I agree,” “I’m happy,” “I’m enjoying this beer,” “My team is going to win it all,” “I saw that television show, it sucked!” and “That was a clever remark you or I just made.” And those are just a few of the myriad possibilities of Arrr!

It’s probably best if you visit them and read more. The website is full of excellent TLPD info and tips for making the most out of this day that only comes once a year.

This is important. Not a day for silly forgetfulness.

Mark it on your calendar.  September 19th.
Do it now.

The Rabbit took this picture of me a few days ago. I wasn’t really smoking, duh, but the thing did leave a nasty smoke taste in my mouth. I call it gross and I shall never wear a pipe out my mouth again.

At the same time Ryan was getting this awesome picture of me in such a refined state, Jesse was doing something gross on the sidewalk because when I asked his older brother to please find him some shorts his brain melted just a little and he forgot to put underwear on him and so when Jesse had his “accident” on the public sidewalk there was nothing to contain it.
I nodded towards the toddler and asked the Rabbit, “What is Jesse doing?”
He chuckled and said, “I’ll get a baggy”.
And then all I could do was laugh because there was a young couple walking by who I’m sure will never have a child who would do such a thing.

I hope we’re not as bumpkin as we look.
Oh, no. We are, aren’t we.

I had a pipe in my mouth. I guess I kind of asked for this.

Good grief, people. It was only for a second. I didn’t even inhale or anything.

Today’s giveaway is a cereal treat bar prize pack from Betty Crocker and My Blog Spark and it includes the following awesomeness:

  • One box of Lucky Charms®Cereal Treats Bars
  • One box of Golden Grahams®Cereal Treats Bars
  • Lunch bag
  • Locker whiteboard
  • Colored pencil set

To enter to see if you could be chosen to receive your very own Betty Crocker Cereal Bar Treat prize pack you must take the following course of action by the end of the day on Sept 14th, 2011. US addresses only. Feel free to enter even if I “know” you. Winners are chosen randomly.

  1. Read this post with interest. These cereal bars are really good so it shouldn’t be too torturous.
  2. Tell me something good. Or funny. Or anything really. Just make it about breakfast. Like a cereal memory or humorous story. This shouldn’t be too hard because everybody ate cereal one time. Do this in the comment section.
  3. You can leave a second comment if you chose to pass this giveaway on to somebody else. Like through a link on your blog or Twitter or Facebook or something. This will take a little more effort but it will gain you a second entry. It was bitter sweet.

Have I mentioned before how easily sidetracked I am?

We got this same package in the mail last week and I have to say that, while I was happy about the adorable white board because I always have something to write on a white board and the neat colored pencils because I like to draw, I really wasn’t all that excited about the cereal bars. First, I figured they’d be too sugary; and second, I thought they’d probably be small and not likely a good snack for anybody in this house. I was right on them being fairly small and it really took two of them to be considered snack worthy. However, while sweet, they were fairly low in the calorie department, probably because they were small. This would be better for somebody counting calories and eating smaller snacks. My 6 boys, however, are quite active all day long and can become ravenous when it comes to food – these treats would not have stuck around long had I not rationed them so everybody could try them. And did I mention they were tay-stee? These things were so good. Not quite a replacement for cereal and milk, but definitely a delicious desert-like treat.

I am pleased.

And here a quick word from Betty Crocker and Mom Select:

These flavor-packed Cereal Treats Bars are sure to meet the ‘cool factor’ that kids demand. Check out Cereal Treats Bars online for great information and coupons for new products. Also, be sure to visit the Betty Crocker Facebook page and get involved in the conversation. We’d love to hear how your family enjoys Cereal Treats Bars!

and the rabbit hops off again…

The Rabbit left on a boat this morning so he could spend a few days practicing flying his helicopter around ships or something like that. So, Kait had this neat idea to go down to the beach to watch him leave. It was rainy and blue and was perfectly dreary.

The USS Hue City was so close to us that Kait couldn’t get a picture of the entire thing.

He’s only gone for 4 or 5 days this go around, which isn’t too awful, I guess. I miss him already though.
