Today we ended up at the fall festival here on base. There were a bunch of booths to walk past and inflatables to jump on and stuff to climb and food to buy but the lines were longer than the county fair lines during midnight madness so we let the kids pick one fun thing to do and then we met up in the free caricature line and waited there FOR TWO HOURS. And guess what happened.

Yes.

Right when we got up to the artists, right when it was our turn, this lady came up and said, with a great deal of negative zeal, that the artists could only do one more and then she let people behind us cut in front of us because they were like, But we’ve been waiting in line for an hour and fifteen minutes! And my disappointed, super patient children were like Oh well. But I was like No. This will not do. So I had a little chat with the time police lady about how wrong it was that other people got to cut in front of us and that we had been waiting 45 minutes longer than they had and she was basically like, There is nothing I can do. But apparently one of the artists was listening to our conversation and heard what had happened and agreed that we SHOULD get ours done and so they DID draw all of our pictures and the kids were like, Mom, you’re awesome! Because I am.

I tipped the guys pretty well for taking the extra 15 minutes on our caricatures too, though I sure felt bad for the 50 or so people that had been waiting behind us who didn’t know that there was a time cutoff because NOBODY TOLD US but instead just let us all wait in line. At least it wasn’t hot. Mid 70′s and sunny. Perfect line-waiting weather.

And now for the wrap up:

Kait ran a few book reviews on her review blog. Lost In Dreams by Roger Bruner and Love On The Line by Deeanna Gist.

And she posted about our beach here, on her personal blog.

How to know if your cat is plotting to kill you. This could be important, people.

And World War Z discussions are starting up at The Self Esteem Fund. Get aware. Be ready. It’s time to prepare.

Things many homeschooling parents miss - a very good read. This has nothing to do with Zombies.

The Rabbit surprised me by coming home THREE DAYS EARLY, YAY-YUH! And that means he’s here right now beside me and so I’m smiling a lot because I missed him.

Next week our friends, the Johnson’s are coming to visit… SWEET.

And, by the way, the caricatures turned out brilliant.

This one is of the Rabbit and me.

I’m so happy that he got to come home early. SO HAPPY.
