An Ocean Spray giveaway. Also, I’m a poet and didn’t even know I was.

This is a giveaway for 6 boxes of new Ocean Spray Fruit Flavored Snacks. To enter to win all you need to do is be in the USA, read this post with interest, people (or at least feign interest), and leave a comment telling me about your favorite fruit flavor.

My Blog Spark is a most awesome company that I’ve worked with since pretty much forever. They work to get products into the hands of real consumers in return for honest feedback.  They recently sent me a bunch of these new fruit flavored gummy-like snacks from Ocean Spray.  It said that they were made with real fruit juice and that I could feel good about them. I thought, Wow. These should be really awesome.

So, I tore open the box and we all munched on them and they were really good – seriously delicious – and I looked on the box label to see what they had in them and the first ingredient was real fruit juice. Good on ya, Ocean Spray!  But the second ingredient was corn syrup. And the third, sugar.

Dang it, Ocean Spray. Why’d you have to go and make like they were oh-so-good for us when pretty much all you did was add some fruit juice to a bowl of sugar and then imply that I could feel good feeding this stuff to my kids? Because now you just alienated this consumer. And I have 8 kids and we eat a lot of snacks. 

So, while these were delicious in a serious way, they aren’t quite as good for us as I was led to believe they were and I’m really getting ticked at companies who try to skirt the truth with wording like real and natural.

Ocean Spray^® Fruit Flavored snacks might be a big hit, and the six boxes we received to try didn’t last all that long, party because I kept eating them and eating them; but I likely won’t be purchasing them. Not because I don’t buy less-than-healthy food because I do and I like it, but I’m not going to buy these because I’m just plain ticked off at them for trying to trick me.

Still, these puppies were free in exchange for this review and they are so stinking good.  Seriously. And I’m willing to bet they’re maybe even a little better than a lot of other fruit flavored junk out there.  If you enter this giveaway you might just win and then you can try them and see for yourself.
