This is just one of those things I must write down so I don’t forget it.

We find that it is very important that our children call us mommy or daddy (mom or dad or mama or whatever). It shows more respect than just calling us by our first names.

It surprised us recently when Ben, our 2 year old, took to calling his daddy Dan. We are consistent in reminding him to call his father Daddy yet he still calls him Dan and when we remind him to call his daddy Daddy he giggles, scrunches up his forehead, and says nooooo like we don’t know what we are talking about.

What is even worse is that his dad’s name is, in fact, not Dan. My husband’s name is Ryan. Which makes the whole thing very funny to us.

Yes, my husband has already asked me (playfully) who Dan is.
