Last night was day nine of our 12 days of Christmas fun.  It was 83 degrees and we were going to have a water balloon fight but that was cancelled because of many clouds and too much breeze.  I wasn’t interested in being wet and cold in the wind.  I did, however, give the kids some water balloons and filled the wading pool up for the littles and they had good fun being wet and cold in the wind.

So instead of having a water balloon fight with the 1000 water balloons I bought we opted to do an activity we found over at Kim and Jason’s blog a few years ago.

We grilled gummy worms.

And pickles, and powdered donuts, and Oreos, and Airheads, and oatmeal cream pies, and Doritos, and apples and a bunch of other stuff.

The pickles were good but just tasted like microwaved pickles. The apples were weird but the apple we used may have been a bad one. The doritos were quite good and so were the Oreos. But the winner, in my opinion, was the oatmeal cream pie.

I got some video of this one. It’s not the best ever because I was dealing with a fussy baby, some rowdy boys, and an uncooperative camera that didn’t want to remember what I wanted it to, but it still turned out okay.

Kait had originally insisted that she would not be participating in the eating of our odd grilled food but she broke down and ended up trying most of it.  She didn’t have too many good things to say but she is now overwhelmingly in favor of grilled sour gummy worms.

The boys pretty much liked everything except for the grilled apple. Nobody liked the grilled apple.  All of the grilled food was completely gone except for that apple.  Oh, and we weren’t able to try the air head because it melted and fell down into the coals when we weren’t paying attention.
The grilled powdered donuts tasted a bit like those elephant ears you get at the fair.

I really did love that oatmeal cream pie for sure.
