irene. she comes. she makes waves. she goes.
Kait and I walked down to the ocean today to take a look at the trouble that hurricane Irene was stirring up. It was a double red flag day and I knew the waves would be much bigger than they usually are and big waves is exactly what we saw along with at least a hundred, probably more, surfers who were snatching up their chances to catch a few while the getting was good.
And Kait had her camera.
I don’t know much about surfing but it seems a lot of Kait’s pictures turned out pretty good.
Love Atlantic Beach in the background of this one.
At least I think it’s Atlantic Beach, anyway.
Kait wasn’t the only one out there taking pictures but she was the only photographer on the residents-only boardwalk and had a unique vantage point.
You can see a few more of Kait’s photos here at Picasa and soon she’ll have a bunch of them uploaded to Flickr. If, on the off chance, you were surfing at the poles that separate Mayport NS and Hannah Park today and you think one of her pictures are of you, please let us know.

Irene was no fun close up. Sunday was a bad day,but no damage to my house this time,No electric for 3 days is hard. What are the chances of a earthguake and a hurricane in the same week?
Glad you didn’t see too much damage. Crazy about the quake and the hurricane in the same week though!
