Journaling My Opinions
As my pastor said once, we have a very high opinion of our opinions. This is quite true of me and is the cause for me keeping my mouth shut and not blogging as much as I used to. That and the fact that it’s warm here and I like to be outside…
Anyway, I was telling my husband the other day that I’ve been holding back on my blog because I have dear friends who I strongly disagree with on certain issues. If I blog about them it wouldn’t be because I felt a need to attack them but I am afraid maybe they would take offense.
Now, these aren’t black and white biblical issues or I wouldn’t feel the desire to keep my mouth shut. These are my opinions – totally based on scripture but, like I said, not black and white.
My husband said I shouldn’t stop blogging about what I believe. He said that if somebody got their feelings hurt because of my convictions, that’s their problem and not mine. He has a point. My blog is my journal. If others choose to read my journal that’s fine with me because I have intentionally opened it up to the world. But it’s still my journal and I should be journaling my truth – not just what I think other people want to read.
So, it starts again. A brave new season of blogging. Feel free to argue with me if you want – just as long as you’re friendly I’ll post your comments. I’ve been working on being a graceful responder to opposition and could use the practice (I’ve been pretty bratty at this in the past – another one of those convictions I’ll be writing about).
Please note that I mean nothing personal when I blog! I know some of you have taken what I write personally because you’ve left me little notes to say so or emails that give me what-for.
But, our homeschooling, lotsa kids life is ours, not yours.

I was just thinking the same thing about my blogging on Sunday. I was thinking how I don’t always voice everything because of how others believe. I am all for it. Voice away.
I know exactly what you mean. I’ve started and stopped on my blog so many times, many because I felt a need to censor myself from saying certain things that I thought people would disagree with. Your husband is absolutely right. It’s your blog, your journal, and you shouldn’t worry about offending. People might not always agree with you, but at least you’re sharing a point of view that some of us might not have considered before.
