I had the pleasure to be a part of a group of moms who were offered an opportunity to participate in a Clorox ‘Clean Up’ program.

(some of the kids are missing from the picture because classes were beginning to change right before I took the picture)

Clorox has some great products and was more than happy to help me create a fun, simple germ class for our homeschooling coop! Yes, although this program is designed for the typical classroom setting, our homeschooling group was included! What a super company! I was surprised and pleased all at the same time. It is sad that us homeschoolers are usually left out when it comes to these kinds of programs.

MomSelect, the middleman (or should I say middlemom) here, quickly sent out a generous package filled with clorox supplies, a packet full of super ideas, and a very cool bag to assist me in creating a specialty germ class. I was also given a link to a great page filled with information to help me organize material and information to make this class flow smoothly.

On class day I was prepared with worksheets, information, and questions to ask. I took along the Clorox products I was sent to donate to some of the parents, too. We had a range of ages participating – homeschooling coops have a much different setup than a regular school, and it was fun to see the older kids so willing to help the little kids with their worksheets.

We talked about good germs and bad germs. The kids learned when and how to wash their hands and how to keep good germs healthy so they can be a strong army ready to fight off bad germs at a moment’s notice. The kids completed worksheets and then participated in a sticker chart activity, putting stickers where icky germs tend to hide. This was interesting as I learned that most icky germs hid on the ceiling. The kids were happily sticking the germ stickers wherever.

So, it was a simple class and I’ll call it a success. I hope I get the chance to participate in more of these sort of programs! It was a pleasure!!!

Thanks MomSelect and Clorox!
