One sick fish
Our Black Moor fish is reallysick. This happened almost overnight and, while we got some medicine for him right away I’m still very concerned for the big guy.
Whale has been a part of our family for almost 2 years. He belongs to Gabe and was a gift from Papa and Nona for Gabe’s 8th birthday. He recently found himself in a new, much larger 30 gallon home and seemed to love all the extra, clean space.
And now he’s sick and I’m scared that it’s the water. The crappy, crappy water that smells of gasoline. We’re doing a water cleaning tomorrow before the next dose, and I’m going to fill 1/3 of the 30 gallon tank with filtered water to try to dilute anything bad in our water. I’d do the whole thing in filtered water but read that it’s never a good idea to do that, that filtered water lacks important things in it that fish need.
Petsmart will do free water testing for us, so we’re taking a sample in tomorrow to have them give us any information they can. Other than that, we’re treating the whole tank with parasite and fungal meds.
If any of you awesome people know anything about fish please let me know!
Whale is not just any fish, so please pray for sweet Gabe’s heart. The thought of Whale passing is tough for him, and all of us really.

Oh, I’m sorry he’s sick and I can so understand your concern for Gabe.
Our family just recently suffered the loss of Midalik T. Turtle so we are now the House of Sadness according to Sam. He is handling it pretty well though.
We have no idea what happened or why…I admit to being a little bummed.
Oh, and yes, it is really, really weird that you like mayo on your pancakes. I mean really weird
I’m so sorry to here about Midalik! Poor Sam.
We are in the house of sadness now too, with Whale’s passing this morning. I had no idea the loss of a $4 fish could be so heart breaking.
Just to let you know, I still eat my pancakes with syrup in the morning. It’s when I’m feeling snacky that I like to smear them with a little mayo.
I guess that is a bit weird.
we bought 4 fish just yesterday and put them in our new 20 gallon tank, our black more did the same exact thing but within a few hours of being in his new enviorment i rushed to get meds for the fish that same night but when i returned three had died and the fourth died in the night we went to the fish store and talked to this man and showed him the products we used to get the water ready for the fish come to find out our water conditioner doesnt worw for our area (texas) and we put in a biological “booster” instead of the real biological chemicals ur supposed to use. we still arent sure though if the black moor (which was bought from a different store) was sick when we bought him or if it was our water that made him sick. Did u use the correct products on your water unlike us? if you did then we probably just bought a sick fish. heaven
We’d had our fish forever and always had the same process but our city water changed and I think his little fishy body couldn’t handle it and he just got sick and died. Not sure exactly why but it made my heart a little sad.
Thanks for the comment!
