sam makes an observation
You have to picture the scene to understand Sam’s observation. This kid sees things in a way I just don’t.
I was sitting in my neighbor’s driveway holding Lucy in a sitting position in my lap. She’s been working on that neck muscle thing and her head was gently bobbing and she was looking down towards her lap.
Sam(3) was watching this, talking to his little friend, Giselle(4). They were both squatting down very close to me, peering scientifically at Lucy.
Giselle: Your baby’s pretty. I want a baby named Lucy.
Sam: Yeah. She’s willy pretty. And her pajamas are willy pretty. She’s looking at her pajamas.
Silence. They both continue to look intently at Lucy as though she is about to do something noteworthy. But she doesn’t. She just keeps looking at her lap. Sam’s face shows thought.
Sam: Babies willy like to look at their pajamas, I guess.

My new fave Sham story happened last week at Church.
Me: Sam, where ya been?
Sam: Outside.
Me: Whatcha been doing outside?
Sam: Playing Robbers and Cops.
Me: Were you a Robber or a Cop?
Sam (as though letting me in on a secret): I was a Cop. Because Cops are Ninjas…and I’m a Ninja.
I love that boy.
