The
ULTIMATE
cute baby

This little guy has just come in and taken over. Everything revolves around Sam. Sammy this and Sammy that. He is just so stinking cute – I can’t resist giving him everything he wants!

He is such a good baby too – and has been since he was born. He is sleeping a good 5 hours at night before he wants to eat and then he goes back to sleep for another 4 hours. He did keep me up until 2 am the other night but that was unusual and I wasn’t tired anyway so we kept each other company. He was so smiley and I almost heard a little giggle. I have never had so much sleep with a new baby before. It is odd not to be completely exhausted every day. I really do feel great for the most part. Don’t mention this to my dear husband (we just found his first gray hairs, snicker), but I’d be happy to have another soon.

Sam’s hair is starting to turn that light red color like Ben and Matthew and I think his eyes are going to stay blue. They just keep getting lighter and lighter. Other than Sam, the only bluies in our family are Ryan and Matthew. The rest of us have brown eyes.

Seeing as he is almost 11 weeks now so told him he has to get a job, earn his keep. His chosen profession is to act as our unofficial swim team mascot and he helps to keep my swimmers calm and in one place at swim meets. I used to keep him in the ERGO Baby Carrier but that just isn’t possible anymore with all the kids and parents around who want to cart him around. His clothes are constantly damp because of my swimmers swarming, coddling, and taking turns holding him – I will have to get pics of that. I don’t mind so much that his clothes are wet all the time, it helps to keep him cool. We also have a little Play Cabana tent for him to lay down in. It really does help to keep him from getting so hot and allows him to rest without the tons of stimulation provided by my dear swimmers. Still, they can’t seem to stay away from him. The girls will all collaborate around the tent and listen for Sam to make the slightest sound signalling his distress at not being held – and they are more than happy to acquiesce to his request to be picked up.

Right now he is kicking his little chubby legs, smiling a toothless smile at the air, and making little baby squealing sounds. I wonder what he is thinking. Whatever it is he sure is happy about it.

Happy Sam

Tasty, tasty fingers

This is the best Elvis impersonation I have ever seen from a baby.
