Waiting – a military game
My husband finds out today whether he will be flying helicopters or jets for the rest of his Naval career. He wants helos but was told by his CO yesterday that he should be prepared to be drafted into jets, although that only happens in very rare occasions. My husband is #1 in his class/group, whatever you call it, and having a high grade/NSS, and the fact that he has 7 or 8 jet recommendations in his file, many from instructors who don’t give jet recommendations, gives him a greater potential for getting jets. (Hey, I can brag a little on my knight, can’t I?!?) Plus, you just never know with the Navy.
We were supposed to know by 11am but the CO is taking his sweet time telling us. So we wait. I am jumping back and forth between what I hope he gets. We want helos – no doubt about that – but one of my closest friends has moved to jets-ville recently and we’d love to follow. I’m doing well to find joy in the waiting by simply imagining the life of either and the adventure it will be. I’m getting myself so worked up with the excitement! My husband, or anybody would tell you that I’m not all that excitable but I’m shaking with it right now. Just awesome! The future looks so bright for us and God is so good!
