We went out to dinner as a family. We didn’t make the mess this time though.
Do you know how much it costs our family of 10 to go out to a not-so-fast-food sit down dinner?
A lot.
We do it about once a year and last night was Rabbit’s birthday dinner so we piled all the kids into my little car…
Just kidding. We strapped them all securely to the roof.
We ended up at this hibachi grill where they cook the food right in front of you and the kids were wowed and amazed.
It was actually one of the more boring hibachi shows I’ve seen but the chef lit some stuff on fire and that was all the boys needed to feel satisified by the dining experience.
I was a little disappointed at how much food was slung around. You would think it would be the 6 boys at the table making the mess, but no. It was the chef. Chricken, rice, oil… stuff was flying everywhere. A wad of rice hit the lady sitting at the grill behind ours. A piece of raw chicken flew into Rabbit’s shrimp sauce. Conveniently, he doesn’t even like shrimp so he wasn’t sad about it. Kait was a little irritated about the grease splatters on her favorite hoodie though. As usual, I took some pictures which didn’t turn out great because of the weird lighting and frequent bursts of flames.
It was fun for the kids and we got a ton of good food, but I’m pretty sure it was not worth $160. I think we would have been just as satisfied with a $45 Sonic dinner.

It’s kind of like adding insult to injury when the bill arrives and you realize how much you just paid for a mediocre meal. We felt that way after a trip to the Shrimp Basket…not ever doing that again!

At least the food was good, and abundant. But the service wasn’t great and the place seemed a little on the grungy side. Definitely injured me. I should sue.
At Nikkos in Milton they have a lunch special that is 2 for $14.00. And you don’t get spattered with your food. You should have just made a trip to Milton! The six of us ate at Applebees last Wed. night for 12.80, each child got a kids meal Heath and I split the big nachos and all the children got a milkshake for dessert. On Wed. kids eat for .99, they have half price appetizers and they have cards for free milkshakes!
Wow. That’s WAY cheaper than what we have around here. Jacksonville is quite a bit more expensive though.
Just another reason for you to hightail it back to Milton!
Strapped securely to the roof, huh? Pics or it didn’t happen.
Hibachi is just weird. I don’t know why, but something about it is just…weird.
