…be careful not to kick the lifeguard.

“I’ve got you, calm down.”, God says. As he leads us to calm shores and plants us on firm ground we can relax and have faith that He’s the ultimate lifeguard, always on duty, willing to help. Yet, all too often we fail to accept His steady hand. We kick Him away in all our struggling, flailing our arms, trying to save ourselves. But, can a drowning person really save himself?

God’s got us in His strong grip. We need to stop struggling to get away from Him or He might just let us have our way. Then we’ll be left trying to save ourselves. A truly impossible task.
